How much does a consultation cost?
First consultation at INMEQ (Calle Marcenado 49, Madrid): €150. Follow-up consultations: €120.
Do you accept health insurance?
The practice is fully private; we do not work directly with insurers. If you have a reimbursement policy or international cover, we issue detailed invoices so you can claim back part or all of the fee.
Do you see patients in English?
Yes. Consultations, endoscopy reports and follow-up can all be done in English, in person in Madrid or by video call.
Where does Dr. De María see patients?
At INMEQ, Calle Marcenado 49, Madrid. He also offers online video consultations for patients who cannot travel.
When should I see a gastroenterologist?
If you have frequent heartburn, abdominal pain, heavy digestion, persistent diarrhoea or blood in your stool, a specialist assessment is advisable. See a doctor promptly if there is also weight loss or anaemia.
What does a gastroenterologist treat?
Diseases of the digestive system: reflux, irritable bowel, polyps, achalasia, coeliac disease, fatty liver and many others.
What is achalasia and the POEM procedure?
Achalasia is a disorder of the oesophagus that stops food from passing into the stomach: difficulty swallowing, regurgitation or chest pain. POEM cuts the inner muscle fibres of the oesophagus from the inside, with no external incisions.
What is endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)?
An advanced technique that removes precancerous lesions or very early cancers of the digestive tract completely, without surgery.
